Of interest based on last league meeting: conference selections

Canton Cardinals are now Great Lakes Cardinals - perennial solid team goes independent
FH Mud Hens jump up from Advanced to Open - solid team stepping up
Novi Heat Black jump up from Advanced to Open - another solid team stepping up
Pinckney Pirates slide from Advanced to Community - good move after two sub .500 seasons in advanced
LIvonia Rattlers jump up from Community to Advanced - good move after only 1 loss in Community in 2011
AA A's Green jump from Community to OPEN - jumping over advanced to open, gutsy move

Michigan Bulls will play in the advanced conference; as a first year team with a lot of travel experienced kids we should definitely be competitive in that group and will look forward to playing a few open teams to gauge ourselves for future seasons.

More to follow when the revision from that meeting is published with the rest of the teams selections. There were 23 teams that should have declared their intentions that night.

Also, of interest is the "missing" teams from 2011: Livonia Titans, MC Rivesharks, Oakland Reds; they don't even appear on the "potential teams" listing. Would be a shame to lose those three competitive teams.

Top 10 Returning teams (based on wins + conference weight from '11 & '10 seasons, aka my formula):

1) GL Cardinals
2) N'Ville Broncos
3) Brighton Black
4) SL Thunder
5) FH Mud Hens
6) AA Gold
7) Howell Hawks
8) Saline Hornets
9) TC Bombers
10) Novi Black

Hon Mention: MC Bulldogs, under weighted in my formula since they did not play KVBSA in 2010.

I know several Reds went to the West Oakland Wings who are fielding a 12U team this season. I expect WOW to be a very solid team at 12U. Coach Farquhar has setup a very good organization - they have been very successful at the youngest ages the last couple of years.

I thought I had heard that...and for the record you guys fell in at #11! I was reviewing my book for our game last year against you guys and see we've both had quite a bit of roster turnover. We lost 9-6 at DLP so I'm sure it will be another good game if we meet this year. Wouldn't mind seeing us in the same division either that way we could get a shot at you on our turf!!

What do you hear about LCB (Lakes Competitive Baseball) Legends Gold 12U team? I believe they are playing in the NOBF and I thought I heard that a younger team of theirs is completely coming over from Oakland Reds (maybe the 9u team last year?)

I believe that the LCB Legends have 3 12u teams. The 12u black (1st team) is playing KVBSA, gold team is playing NOBF and,I believe the 12u white is also playing in KVBSA. I heard this from another source. So hopefully its accurate.

Yes, Black & White are on the list for KVBSA. Whichever existed last year at 11u played in the Community division and was pretty dominant. Hoping they step up to advanced this season to increase the competition level.

The conferences and divisions are set and scheduling is in full swing.

Advanced Conference, Trammell Division:
S. Farmington Blues - 4th year team; 6-12 last year in same conference
Northville Cubs - 3rd year team; 7-11 last year in same conference
Motor City Riversharks - 3rd year team; the team to beat after finishing 12-5-1 last season in the same conference
Novi Heat Red - 2nd year team; 11-5-2 in community and stepping up a level
Canton Cardinals (formerly Plymouth Fury) - 2nd yr team; 5-12-1 last year in the same conference
Livonia Rattlers - 2nd year team; were 16-1 in the Community division and are stepping up a level
NFWB Cobras - 2nd year team; 9-7-2 in community division and stepping up a level
Michigan Bulls - 1st year team with 2nd/3rd yr players, 10 of which played KVBSA last year and 1 in NOBF
Livonia Thunder - 1st year team

Should be a very competitive division...can't wait for April!!!!

Yes can't wait to get outdoors playing! Nice breakdown of that KVBSA Division. Maybe I'll tackle the NOBF AAA 12U division later this week. :)
